Harvard University invites applications for a Senior Research Scientist to join our dynamic Academic Research team in Cambridge, MA. The successful candidate will lead interdisciplinary studies, supervise researchers, and contribute to high-impact publications and grant proposals. This is a full-time, research-focused role designed for scholars committed to methodological rigor, open science, and knowledge dissemination.
Working within our collaborative environment, you will design studies, manage data workflows, implement quantitative and qualitative analyses, and mentor graduate students and staff. You will collaborate across departments to advance scientific discovery and translate findings into policy and practice.
Responsibility
- Lead design and execution of independent and collaborative research projects across disciplines.
- Oversee data collection, cleaning, management, and documentation to ensure reproducibility.
- Develop and apply advanced statistical, computational, and qualitative analysis methods.
- Mentor graduate students, postdocs, and research staff; supervise research assistants.
- Prepare grant proposals, progress reports, and budget oversight with cross-functional teams.
- Publish findings in top-tier journals and present results at conferences; foster open science practices.
- Collaborate with faculty, departments, and external partners to translate research into policy and practice.
Qualification
- PhD in a relevant field (e.g., statistics, data science, social sciences, or natural sciences) or equivalent research experience.
- Strong quantitative and qualitative research skills; proficiency in R, Python, and data management.
- Demonstrated record of peer-reviewed publications and successful grant-funded projects.
- Experience leading research teams, managing projects, and mentoring junior researchers.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to convey complex findings to diverse audiences.
- Experience with reproducible workflows, data privacy, and research governance.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with scholars from multiple disciplines and institutions.
- Strong problem-solving, organization, and time-management skills in a fast-paced environment.
