NovaBio Labs is seeking a highly skilled Senior Research Scientist specializing in Molecular Biology to join our expanding team in Boston. This role focuses on leading cutting-edge research projects, optimizing molecular assays, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to translate findings into practical solutions for healthcare and biotechnology applications.
As a member of our dynamic R&D group, you will design experiments, supervise junior staff, and contribute to manuscript preparation and regulatory documentation as needed.
Responsibility
- Lead and execute molecular biology experiments including DNA/RNA extraction, qPCR, RT-qPCR, and sequencing workflows.
- Develop, optimize, and validate assays for target discovery and biomarker analysis.
- Design and interpret experiments, generate high-quality data, and present findings to stakeholders.
- Mentor and train junior scientists and lab technicians; ensure adherence to SOPs and safety protocols.
- Manage project timelines, resources, and documentation; contribute to grant and manuscript writing.
- Collaborate with translational teams to move discoveries toward preclinical validation and commercialization.
- Maintain laboratory quality systems, troubleshoot technical issues, and ensure compliance with GLP/GMP where applicable.
Qualification
- PhD in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, or related field; or MS with 5+ years of relevant industry experience.
- 5+ years in molecular biology lab settings with hands-on experience in CRISPR, cloning, sequencing, and quantitative assays.
- Strong data analysis skills in Python/R; proficiency with LIMS and experimental design.
- Proven track record of project leadership, collaboration, and cross-functional teamwork.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to present to both scientific and non-scientific stakeholders.
- Experience with lab safety, SOPs, and quality systems; knowledge of GLP/GMP is a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment; self-motivated and solution-oriented.
