Job description

AtlasRisk Partners is seeking a Senior Risk Manager to lead enterprise risk management initiatives for a globally active financial services client in New York City. The role blends strategic risk oversight, regulatory alignment, and hands on risk assessment to protect assets, reputation, and operations.

The Senior Risk Manager will partner with senior leadership to design and implement risk governance processes, maintain risk appetite statements, and enhance the control environment across markets and functions.

Responsibility

  • Develop and maintain the enterprise risk management framework, threat taxonomy, and risk appetite metrics.
  • Lead risk governance committees, prepare dashboards, and report risk exposure to senior executives and the board.
  • Perform risk assessment for new initiatives, large programs, and third party relationships; coordinate issue tracking and remediation plans.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and ensure compliance mapping, controls effectiveness, and SOX readiness where applicable.
  • Partner with IT, security, finance, and operations to design and test internal controls and mitigate control gaps.
  • Oversee incident management, risk events, and root cause analysis to minimize recurrence and strengthen resilience.
  • Provide thought leadership on emerging risks such as cyber, geopolitical, supply chain, and model risk; maintain risk registers and mitigation strategies.

Qualification

  • Bachelor degree required; advanced degree preferred in finance, risk management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 7 years of risk management experience within financial services or a global enterprise with complex risk.
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise risk management, governance, and regulatory requirements including SOX and Basel.
  • Proven track record leading cross functional teams and presenting risk insights to executives and board members.
  • Professional certifications such as FRM, PRM, or CFA are highly preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency with risk analytics tools and data visualization platforms.
