TELUS Digital is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator Specialist to design, operate, and optimize robust Linux-based infrastructure in a fast-paced, customer-centric environment. In this role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations, automation, and ongoing improvements of our scalable systems that power digital experiences for TELUS Digital clients. You will collaborate with software engineers, security professionals, and IT operations to ensure reliability, security, and cost-efficiency across on-premises and cloud environments.
As a Senior Systems Administrator Specialist, you will lead incident response, implement automation to reduce toil, and drive continuous improvement through monitoring, configuration management, and performance tuning. You should be comfortable working in a cross-functional team, communicating effectively with non-technical stakeholders, and mentoring junior teammates. Key responsibilities and opportunities include hands-on administration of Linux servers, containerized workloads, and virtualization platforms; designing and enforcing security baselines; automating provisioning and configuration; collaborating on CI/CD pipelines; and owning documentation and runbooks that support global operations. This is a full-time role based in Pasig City, Metro Manila, Philippines.
You will work with modern tooling: Ansible or Puppet, Terraform, Prometheus/Grafana, ELK stack, and cloud services (AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure). You will contribute to cost-efficient design, disaster recovery planning, and robust backup strategies while maintaining high availability and security postures.
Responsibility
- Lead design, deployment, and ongoing maintenance of Linux-based infrastructure across on-prem, cloud, and hybrid environments.
- Implement automation and configuration management using Ansible, Terraform, and related tools; manage patching and provisioning.
- Monitor system health and performance; configure alerts; perform proactive tuning and capacity planning.
- Develop and enforce security baselines, backups, disaster recovery plans, and incident response procedures.
- Collaborate with developers on CI/CD pipelines to ensure reliable deployments and scalable services.
- Maintain high availability and perform root cause analyses for incidents; document runbooks and post-incident reviews.
- Mentor and coach junior system administrators; contribute to knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 5+ years of hands-on Linux system administration experience, with exposure to RHEL/CentOS, Ubuntu, or Debian.
- Strong experience with virtualization and container platforms (VMware, Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud environments (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure).
- Proficient in automation/configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef) and scripting (Bash, Python).
- Experience with monitoring/observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Nagios, ELK stack) and incident management.
- Solid networking fundamentals, security best practices, and knowledge of TLS, DNS, and firewalls.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills; ability to mentor and partner with cross-functional teams.
