Vertex Elite Sports is seeking a data-driven Sports Performance Analyst to join our high-performance team in Los Angeles. This role blends sports science, data analytics, and coaching collaboration to optimize athlete performance across training cycles and competition.
We’re looking for a strategic thinker who can translate complex data into actionable insights, dashboards, and training recommendations that help elite athletes gain a competitive edge while maintaining the highest standards of athlete welfare and privacy.
Responsibility
- Collect, clean, and validate performance data from wearable sensors, GPS, video, and strength/conditioning tests.
- Develop, maintain, and communicate performance dashboards that inform coaching decisions and training planning.
- Analyze biomechanical and physiological metrics to identify optimization opportunities and injury risk factors.
- Collaborate with coaches, strength and conditioning staff, and medical team to translate analytics into actionable training plans.
- Lead data-driven design of conditioning programs, recovery strategies, and load management protocols.
- Ensure data governance, privacy, and ethical handling of athlete information; maintain audit trails and documentation.
- Present findings to stakeholders with clear storytelling and executive-friendly visuals.
Qualification
- Master’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Data Science, or related field; PhD a plus.
- 5+ years of experience in sports analytics or performance analysis within professional or high-performance environments.
- Proficiency with Python or R, SQL, and data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, or similar).
- Experience with wearable tech, motion capture, GPS systems, and sport-specific metrics.
- Strong understanding of biomechanics, physiology, and load management principles.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to translate data into practical coaching recommendations.
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced athletic setting; willingness to travel as needed.
