Job description

Luminary Stage Productions, a premier theater company in New York City, is seeking an experienced Stage Manager to join our artistic team. This full-time role oversees rehearsals, calls, and backstage operations across main stage productions. You will collaborate with directors, designers, and crew to ensure a safe, smooth, and timely performances.

Responsibility

  • Coordinate all rehearsal and performance schedules; manage call sheets, blocking notes, and production calendars.
  • Serve as the primary liaison among directors, designers, stage crew, and performers to ensure cohesive execution.
  • Lead daily rehearsals and on-stage cues; manage timing, consistency, and continuity across performances.
  • Maintain the production bible, track prop, costume, and set needs, and coordinate changes with departments.
  • Oversee backstage operations, safety procedures, and equipment checks; supervise the stage crew and interns.
  • Troubleshoot issues in tech, previews, and live runs; communicate with production management to implement solutions quickly.
  • Document and archive show information for post-show reports and future productions.
  • Uphold a culture of professionalism, collaboration, and artistic excellence.

Qualification

  • 3+ years of stage management experience in live theater; experience in NYC or equivalent market preferred.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and organizational skills; ability to multitask under pressure.
  • Proficiency with stage management software and tools (QLab, Show Cue, CMS, MS Office, Google Workspace).
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety standards, risk assessment, and incident reporting.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, tech weeks, and long rehearsal periods as required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Theater, Production, or related field preferred.
  • Demonstrated reliability, initiative, and a collaborative mindset.
