We are seeking a seasoned Taxation Specialist to lead compliance, planning, and reporting for a diverse client base in the New York area. This role blends deep tax technical work with strategic business partnering, offering a path to leadership and advanced certifications.
In this role you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver accurate, timely tax returns, optimize tax positions, and ensure adherence to federal, state, and international tax requirements.
Responsibility
- Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for corporations, partnerships, and individuals.
- Perform tax research and planning to optimize tax positions and minimize liability.
- Assist with quarterly and annual tax provision processes and ASC 740 compliance.
- Collaborate with finance and operations to identify tax planning opportunities and risk controls.
- Manage interactions with tax authorities, respond to notices, and handle audits as needed.
- Develop and maintain transfer pricing documentation and nexus analyses for international clients.
- Support Mergers and Acquisitions due diligence and post-acquisition tax integration.
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to firm-wide knowledge sharing and process improvements.
Qualification
- Bachelor degree in Accounting, Taxation, or related field; CPA or Enrolled Agent preferred.
- 5+ years of recent corporate and/or partnership taxation experience in public accounting or corporate tax.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state tax codes, with international tax exposure a plus.
- Proficiency in tax software and ERP systems; demonstrated ability to manage tax compliance calendars.
- Excellent analytical, research, and communication skills; ability to present complex concepts clearly.
- Experience with ASC 740 tax provision and financial reporting is a plus.
- Detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and client priorities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team; willingness to mentor staff.
