Job description
We are seeking a results-driven Transportation Operations Manager to lead and scale our urban and regional logistics in Chicago. You’ll optimize daily routes, manage carrier partnerships, and implement safety and compliance programs that move business forward.
In this role you’ll partner with cross-functional teams to drive efficiency, reduce cost per mile, and enhance service levels for customers across multiple modes of transport.
Responsibility
- Oversee end-to-end transportation operations for all inbound and outbound shipments in the Chicago region.
- Design and optimize routing, capacity planning, and carrier mix to maximize on-time delivery and reduce total miles.
- Lead vendor and carrier negotiations, performance reviews, and SLA adherence.
- Implement safety, regulatory, and compliance programs across all transport activities.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives using data analytics and TMS tools to reduce cost per mile.
- Manage budget, KPI reporting, and cross-functional collaboration with warehousing, procurement, and customer service.
- Mentor and develop a high-performing transportation team while driving a culture of accountability.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain, business, or related field.
- 5+ years of transportation or logistics operations experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record in route optimization, fleet management, and cost control.
- Strong knowledge of transportation safety, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and data analytics tools.
- Excellent communication, vendor management, and problem-solving skills.
