The 2nd Engineer will report to the Chief Engineer and play a critical role in supervising engine room operations, maintaining propulsion and auxiliary systems, and ensuring compliance with international maritime standards. As part of our engineering team, you will contribute to preventive maintenance planning, performance monitoring, fault diagnosis, and effective communication with shipboard and shore teams. You will also assist in DP operations when required, supporting safe station keeping and dynamic positioning tasks. Responsibilities
- Assist the Chief Engineer in supervising engine room operations on offshore vessels and ensuring reliable performance of propulsion and auxiliary systems
- Plan and perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs for marine diesel engines, generators, boilers, pumps, and associated gear
- Monitor engine room data, diagnose faults, carry out troubleshooting, and coordinate repairs with crew and shore support
- Support and participate in DP vessel operations as required, including dynamic positioning monitoring and safety procedures during station keeping
- Maintain detailed logs, maintenance reports, fuel and lube oil consumption records, and inventory of spare parts
- Ensure compliance with SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM, flag state regulations, and company safety policies; promote safe work practices
- Assist in on board drills and safety training, fostering a culture of safety and welfare on board
Qualifications
- Valid Philippines 2nd Engineer license II/2 and DP Vessel Management certification or equivalent recognized by flag state
- Minimum 2 to 5 years of hands on experience as a 2nd Engineer on offshore vessels; DP class experience preferred
- STCW Basic Safety Training and offshore safety certifications; valid medical certificate
- Strong knowledge of marine diesel engines, propulsion plants, electrical systems, and automation
- Proficient in reading P and IDs, mechanical drawings, and maintenance planning software
- Excellent problem solving, communication, and teamwork skills; able to work under pressure and long assignments
- Willingness to travel worldwide, work flexible schedules, and comply with safety and regulatory requirements
