As a Third Mate, you will be a key member of the bridge team, supporting navigation, ship stability, and cargo operations while ensuring compliance with international regulations and company safety policies. You will work under the Master to lead watchkeeping, conduct navigational planning, monitor weather and sea conditions, and coordinate with crew on deck and engine departments to ensure safe, efficient operations on long range voyages. Your role will emphasize tanker safety, cargo integrity, and proactive risk management.
Responsibilities include maintaining accurate navigational records, updating electronic navigation systems, overseeing deck operations during cargo transfers, and participating in emergency drills and safety procedures. The role also requires meticulous log keeping, voyage planning, and collaboration with port authorities and pilot services when entering and leaving ports worldwide. You will contribute to fuel efficiency, voyage optimization, and adherence to environmental and safety standards.

Responsibility
- Assist the Master in safe navigation and watchkeeping on the bridge, including voyage planning and execution.
- Oversee deck operations during cargo transfers on oil and chemical products, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Monitor vessel performance, weather, currents, and sea conditions to optimize routing and fuel efficiency.
- Maintain navigational records, logbooks, and electronic chart systems; ensure accurate passage planning.
- Coordinate with port agents, pilots, and authorities for safe port entry and departure.
- Lead emergency response drills and participate in lifesaving and firefighting training.
- Ensure maintenance of navigational equipment, life saving appliances, and deck gear.
- Enforce safety policies, risk assessments, and clear communication with crew to prevent incidents.
Qualification
- Valid STCW Third Officer/Watchkeeping license or equivalent endorsement.
- Minimum 1-3 years sea service on tanker vessels, preferably oil or chemical tankers.
- Proficiency with bridge equipment including ECDIS, radar ARPA, AIS; basic computer skills.
- Strong English communication skills and ability to work in multicultural crews.
- Proven safety mindset, ability to respond to emergencies, and sound decision-making.
- Willingness to undertake worldwide voyages and long periods at sea.
- Good teamwork, leadership, and time management abilities.
