The Cambridge Institute for Academic Research (CIAR) invites applications for an Academic Research Scientist to join our interdisciplinary team in Cambridge, MA. This full-time position focuses on advancing cutting-edge research through rigorous data analysis, robust experimental design, and collaborative scholarship.
As part of CIAR, you will design and execute studies, analyze complex datasets, and contribute to peer-reviewed publications. You will work closely with faculty, postdocs, and students to translate scientific questions into high-impact experiments.

Responsibility
- Design, plan, and execute rigorous research projects across interdisciplinary domains.
- Lead data collection, processing, statistical analysis, and modeling using Python, R, MATLAB, or similar tools.
- Develop reproducible analysis pipelines and documentation to support open science practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor students, and supervise research assistants as needed.
- Prepare manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed journals and present findings at conferences.
- Coordinate grant-related activities, including literature reviews, progress reporting, and budgeting support.
- Ensure compliance with ethical guidelines, data management policies, and regulatory requirements.
Qualification
- PhD in a relevant field (e.g., biology, neuroscience, data science, engineering) or equivalent research experience.
- Strong experimental design skills and a solid foundation in statistical methods and data interpretation.
- Proficiency in Python and R; experience with MATLAB, SQL, or other analytical tools is a plus.
- Demonstrated track record of peer-reviewed publications or conference presentations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to collaborate effectively in diverse teams.
- Strong time-management and organizational abilities; experience mentoring or supervising junior researchers is a plus.
- Commitment to reproducible research practices and data stewardship; familiarity with version control and documentation.
