As an Archiving Specialist, you will design and implement archival strategies for both physical and born-digital materials, ensuring long-term accessibility and compliance with industry standards.

Responsibility
- Lead appraisal, arrangement, and description of archival collections (physical and digital), ensuring consistency with approved schemas.
- Develop and implement metadata strategies (Dublin Core, METS/MODS, PREMIS) to maximize accessibility and interoperability.
- Manage digitization workflows, including quality control, file formats, and preservation actions for born-digital assets.
- Oversee access controls, rights management, and security policies to protect sensitive materials.
- Collaborate with IT, legal, and curatorial teams to align retention schedules and compliance with organizational policies.
- Create, maintain, and publish finding aids, inventories, and catalog records for efficient discovery.
- Plan and execute ongoing preservation and risk assessments, including storage migration and format audits.
- Mentor junior staff and coordinate cross-functional projects to advance archival initiatives.
Qualification
- Master's or Bachelor's degree in Library Science, Archives, Information Management, or related field.
- 3+ years of professional experience in archives, records management, or digital preservation.
- Strong knowledge of metadata standards (Dublin Core, METS/MODS, PREMIS) and archival description practice.
- Experience with archival management systems (e.g., ArchivesSpace, AtoM) and digitization workflows.
- Advanced skills in XML, SQL/NoSQL, and scripting (Python) for metadata manipulation and reporting.
- Excellent organizational, project management, and communication skills; ability to work cross-functionally.
- Understanding of legal and privacy considerations, retention schedules, and disposition practices.
