Job description

HeritageBridge Solutions is seeking a Senior Archivist and Digital Archiving Specialist to lead our growing archival program. You will shape our preservation strategy for physical and digital collections, ensuring long-term accessibility and regulatory compliance.

In this role, you will collaborate with librarians, IT teams, and curators to implement scalable preservation workflows, metadata schemas, and digitization projects for a diverse range of materials.

Responsibility

  • Lead the planning and execution of digital preservation workflows and accessioning processes for born-digital and digitized materials.
  • Develop and implement metadata schemas (Dublin Core, METS, PREMIS) and contribute to authority control and cataloging standards.
  • Oversee ArchivesSpace or equivalent archival management system, ensuring data integrity and accessibility.
  • Manage digitization projects, including vendor coordination, quality control, and workflow optimization.
  • Collaborate with IT and security teams to implement backup, redundancy, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Conduct regular audits, quality control, and risk assessments to ensure compliance with policies and external regulations.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff on archival best practices, data governance, and information access.

Qualification

  • Master's degree in Library Science, Information Science, Archival Studies, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional archival experience, with a focus on digital preservation and metadata.
  • Hands-on experience with archival management systems such as ArchivesSpace, Archivist's Toolkit, or Preservica.
  • Strong knowledge of metadata standards (Dublin Core, METS, PREMIS) and digital preservation principles (OAIS).
  • Proven project management skills, excellent communication, and cross-functional collaboration capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and deliver high-quality results on schedule.
  • Knowledge of privacy, records management, and compliance considerations relevant to the sector.
