Job description

MSIG, a leading name in health insurance in Singapore, is seeking an experienced Assistant Manager for the Segment Profit Centre to partner with the Head of Health Insurance in driving profitable growth and shaping strategic initiatives across the portfolio. In this role, you will combine financial rigour with strategic insight to optimise profitability, portfolio mix, and customer outcomes. You will translate data into actionable plans, establish performance targets, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement improvements that sustain MSIG's competitive advantage in the health insurance market.

Reporting to the Head of Health Insurance, you will work with underwriting, product development, claims, actuarial, distribution, and IT to execute initiatives that enhance revenue, optimize costs, and strengthen governance. You will monitor key performance indicators, develop dashboards and reports for senior management, and contribute to budgeting and forecasting processes. The successful candidate will possess strong communication skills, be comfortable navigating regulatory requirements, and actively manage stakeholder relationships with internal teams, distributors, reinsurers, and regulators. This is a hands-on role that offers exposure to a broad range of health insurance products and opportunities to influence decision‑making at the segment level.

Responsibility

  • Support the Head of Health Insurance in developing and executing the Health Segment's profitability strategy, including revenue growth, cost optimization, and portfolio mix analysis.
  • Lead profitability analytics and KPI monitoring for the segment; prepare regular insights reports and dashboards for senior management.
  • Collaborate with underwriting, product, claims, actuarial, distribution, and IT teams to implement profitability-improvement initiatives and new initiatives.
  • Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning for the Health Segment; track performance against targets and propose corrective actions.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize policies, pricing, and coverages while ensuring regulatory compliance and risk controls.
  • Coordinate stakeholder management with internal stakeholders, distributors, reinsurers, and regulatory bodies; ensure clear communication and alignment across the organisation.
  • Mentor and coach junior team members; manage project workstreams and deliver results on time and within scope.
  • Drive data-driven decision making by leveraging analytics tools (Excel, SQL, BI dashboards) to extract actionable insights from health insurance data.

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Actuarial Science, or a related field; professional qualifications are a plus.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of work experience in health insurance or a related field; track record in profitability, product, or underwriting is desirable.
  • Strong financial modeling, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate data into actionable strategies.
  • Proficiency in Excel; experience with SQL and BI tools (Power BI, Tableau) is preferred.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills; able to influence cross-functionally at all levels.
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements and internal controls within the health insurance domain.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of managing multiple initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Fluency in English; additional language skills are a plus.
