Join Shopee's Compliance and Risk Management team, a high-growth function dedicated to protecting the business and customers across the region. As an Associate, Regional Internal Compliance, you will help ensure Shopee adheres to applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies while enabling sustainable growth in Singapore and Southeast Asia.
Your work will span across risk controls, regulatory change management, and day-to-day compliance operations. You will collaborate with Legal, Finance, Product, Security, and Operations to translate complex regulatory requirements into practical, scalable processes that support our marketplace and payment platforms.
In this role, you will monitor policy effectiveness, assist with due diligence and oversight of third-party partners, and contribute to incident response and remediation efforts. You will produce management-ready reports, support training programs, and help shape an ethical, risk-aware culture across the region.

Responsibility
- Conduct ongoing regulatory risk assessments and support the design and implementation of controls across Shopee's regional operations in Singapore and Southeast Asia.
- Assist with AML/KYC programs, sanctions screening, anti-fraud controls, and data privacy compliance (PDPA).
- Perform third-party risk management, vendor due diligence, onboarding checks, and ongoing monitoring of critical suppliers.
- Monitor regulatory changes and prepare impact assessments, gap analyses, and remediation action plans with cross-functional teams.
- Prepare dashboards and management reports for regional Compliance leadership; support audit readiness and regulatory inquiries.
- Coordinate internal investigations and incident response activities in partnership with Legal and Security.
- Deliver training and awareness programs to business units to promote a strong culture of compliance and ethical conduct.
- Collaborate with Legal, Finance, Product, and Operations to embed controls into day-to-day processes and test remediation efforts.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Law, Finance, Business, or a related field.
- 1-3 years of experience in compliance, risk management, or financial services.
- Knowledge of AML/KYC, sanctions, PDPA (Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Act), and regulatory frameworks relevant to e-commerce.
- Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills; ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical actions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication with the ability to present to stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficiency with MS Office; familiarity with compliance tools and data analytics is a plus.
- Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment; self-motivated, organized, and detail-oriented.
- Fluent in English; additional languages preferred.
