This role blends scientific focus with education and outreach, offering opportunities to contribute to telescope campaigns, citizen science projects, and public lectures.
Responsibility
- Lead and coordinate public outreach programs, workshops, and planetarium presentations.
- Collaborate with astronomers on observational campaigns and data interpretation.
- Develop and maintain data analysis pipelines using Python, Astropy, NumPy, and SciPy.
- Operate telescope facilities and assist with instrument calibration and maintenance.
- Create compelling educational content for classrooms, museums, and digital platforms.
- Prepare layperson summaries and present findings at conferences, public talks, and media appearances.
Qualification
- Master's degree or PhD in Astronomy, Astrophysics, or a closely related field.
- 3+ years of experience in astronomical data analysis and/or instrumentation.
- Proficiency in Python and data analysis libraries (Astropy, NumPy, SciPy) and SQL.
- Hands-on experience with telescope operations and observatory logistics.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with experience in public outreach.
- Ability to work collaboratively in cross-disciplinary teams and manage multiple projects.
- Willingness to travel for conferences and outreach events as needed.
