Diamond H Marine Svcs. & Shipping Agency Inc. invites applications for a highly skilled Chief Engineer to join our fleet servicing bulk carriers and general cargo coaster trades operating from Manila. This senior engineering role combines technical leadership with hands-on management of propulsion, power generation, and shipboard systems to ensure safe, reliable voyages and optimal vessel performance.
As Chief Engineer, you will command the Engineering Department, directing maintenance planning, watch schedules, and the timely repair of main propulsion and auxiliary machinery. You will oversee the engine room's daily operations, manage spare parts inventory, monitor fuel efficiency, and implement energy-saving initiatives. Your leadership will ensure compliance with ISM Code, SOLAS, MARPOL, and company safety policies, while maintaining precise logbooks, maintenance records, and reporting to shoreside management.
Key responsibilities include overseeing routine and preventive maintenance, supervising boilers, engines, pumps, electrical systems, and associated equipment; coordinating dry-dock preparations and major repairs; ensuring safe ballast water management and water treatment; and fostering a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement among the crew. You will liaise with vessel superintendents, port authorities, and vendors to optimize performance and minimize downtime.

Responsibility
- Lead the Engineering Department to ensure safe operation of propulsion, power generation, and auxiliary systems on board.
- Plan and execute preventive and corrective maintenance for engines, boilers, pumps, generators, and electrical plants.
- Manage spare parts inventory, procurement, and vendor relations to minimize downtime and maintain readiness.
- Monitor engine performance, fuel consumption, emissions, and implement optimization measures to improve efficiency.
- Ensure ISM Code, SOLAS, MARPOL compliance and conduct regular safety drills and engine-room inspections.
- Maintain accurate ship's logs, maintenance records, and reports; coordinate with shoreside management and superintendents.
- Oversee dry-docking preparations, major repairs, and alterations; supervise on-board repair work and modifications as required.
- Oversee ballast water management, water treatment, and overall environmental responsibilities aboard the vessel.
Qualification
- Valid Chief Engineer Officer certificate or equivalent recognized by the Philippine authorities; extensive seagoing experience as Chief Engineer or Senior Marine Engineer on merchant ships, preferably bulk carriers or general cargo.
- STCW certificates including Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats, Firefighting, Medical Care, and other mandatory trainings.
- Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills with the ability to manage a diverse crew at sea.
- Thorough knowledge of main propulsion and auxiliary engines, boilers, pumps, electrical systems, and related safety-critical equipment.
- Solid understanding of ISM Code, MARPOL, SOLAS, ISPS, and safety-management systems; proven track record of regulatory compliance.
- Willingness to embark on long voyages, travel, and relocation as required by vessel schedules.
- Excellent physical condition and ability to pass medical fitness examinations required for seafarers.
