Responsibility

  • Plan and monitor safe voyage routes using ECDIS, ARPA radar, AIS, and weather data to optimize safety and efficiency.
  • Supervise bridge watch operations, ensuring compliance with SOLAS, COLREGS, and company procedures.
  • Maintain accurate navigation records, electronic charts, and voyage logs; ensure data integrity.
  • Coordinate with masters, port agents, and operations teams for timely vessel calls, berthing, and pilotage arrangements.
  • Perform regular navigation equipment checks, troubleshooting, and reporting; lead drills and equipment familiarization for crew.
  • Contribute to incident investigations and near-miss reporting; implement corrective actions and safety improvements.
  • Support weather routing, dynamic planning, and fuel optimization based on voyage conditions.
  • Mentor junior officers and contribute to a strong safety culture through training and best practices.

Qualification

  • Valid STCW II/2 or higher Officer in Charge of Navigational Watch certificate (OOW) and ongoing professional development.
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on navigation experience aboard merchant vessels, offshore support, or cruise ships.
  • Proficiency with ECDIS, ARPA radar, AIS, GPS, and electronic navigation systems; comfortable with multiple data streams.
  • Solid knowledge of COLREGS, SOLAS, MARPOL and other applicable maritime safety regulations.
  • Excellent route planning, decision-making, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Eligibility to work in Singapore and willingness to reside in Singapore; willingness to travel as needed.
  • Bachelor's degree in Maritime Studies, Marine Navigation, or a related field preferred; equivalent hands-on experience considered.
