Responsibility
- Oversee and coordinate deck crew operations to ensure safe and efficient management of the vessel.
- Assist the Master in vessel navigation, cargo handling, and voyage planning, adhering strictly to international maritime regulations.
- Maintain up-to-date records of ship logs, safety drills, and compliance documentation.
- Supervise loading, stowage, securing, and unloading operations to prevent cargo damage and ensure stability.
- Monitor condition and maintenance of deck equipment, safety devices, and emergency gear.
- Lead and participate in safety trainings, emergency drills, and risk assessments for crew members.
- Enforce safety procedures and company policies during routine and emergency operations.
- Regularly report on the performance and undertake duties as delegated by the Master.
Qualification
- Valid Chief Mate license (STCW II/2) applicable to bulk vessels.
- At least 2 years of experience as Chief Mate or Senior Officer on bulk carriers or similar vessels.
- Proficient knowledge of cargo operations, SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM and ISPS regulations.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Physically fit and able to pass seafarer medical and fitness certifications.
- Demonstrated safety and security awareness in all maritime duties.
- Valid passport and seamanβs book with unexpired certificates as per international requirements.
