Hope & Horizon Foundation is seeking a strategic and mission-driven Development Director to lead our fundraising efforts in New York City. This leadership role drives financial sustainability through donor engagement, grant programs, and strategic partnerships with corporations, foundations, and individuals.
As a member of the senior leadership team, you will shape our fundraising strategy, manage a growing development team, and collaborate with program staff to maximize impact.
Responsibility
- Develop and execute a comprehensive annual fundraising plan to meet or exceed revenue goals.
- Lead major gifts and donor stewardship initiatives, building long-term relationships with individuals, foundations, and corporate partners.
- Oversee grant research, proposal writing, reporting, and compliance across all grant portfolios.
- Collaborate with program staff to craft compelling impact narratives and donor communications.
- Manage the development budget, metrics, and analytics to drive data-informed decisions.
- Lead and mentor the development team, including volunteers and interns, to build capacity and effectiveness.
- Plan and execute donor events and cultivation activities that deepen engagement.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, marketing, communications, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive fundraising experience, preferably in the nonprofit sector.
- Proven success in securing grants and major gifts, with a track record of meeting or exceeding goals.
- Excellent writing, storytelling, and presentation skills.
- Experience with donor CRM systems and data-driven fundraising analytics (e.g., Salesforce Nonprofit).
- Strong leadership, collaboration, and project-management abilities.
- Knowledge of the New York philanthropic landscape and networks.
