Smarthire by SEEK is seeking a strategic and hands-on Division Head - Receiving Department to lead our inbound operations within a dynamic retail and consumer products environment. In this role, you will oversee all receiving activities from supplier deliveries to put-away, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with company standards. You will partner with procurement, inventory control, warehousing, and store teams to support optimal stock availability, minimize discrepancies, and sustain high service levels for internal stakeholders and customers. The Division Head will develop and execute robust receiving SOPs, implement best practices for goods verification, damage control, and returns handling, and champion continuous process improvements to drive efficiency and cost savings. You will manage a team of receiving supervisors and associates, set clear performance expectations, conduct coaching, and schedule workloads to meet peak-season demands. A data-driven mindset is essential; you will analyse KPI trends, prepare regular performance reports, and translate insights into actionable improvements. You will ensure safety, quality, and security procedures are followed, and you will lead change management initiatives when implementing new systems or processes. Responsibility
- Lead and supervise the Receiving Department, setting performance expectations and coaching team members to achieve targets.
- Oversee inbound goods receipt, verification of purchase orders, and accurate data entry into the ERP system.
- Coordinate with warehouse, inventory, and store operations to ensure timely put-away and stock availability.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for receiving, returns, damage control, and exception handling.
- Monitor key metrics (receiving accuracy, dock-to-stock cycle time, and damaged goods rate) and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and security standards in line with company policies.
- Lead, train, and develop a high-performing receiving team; manage scheduling and workload distribution.
- Collaborate with procurement and logistics partners to optimise inbound processes and supplier performance.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, logistics, operations management, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Proven experience in a leadership role within a Receiving/Logistics environment, preferably in retail or e-commerce.
- Strong knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS) and ERP systems; proficiency in data analysis and reporting.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills; capable of cross-functional collaboration.
- Attention to detail, accuracy, and problem-solving mindset; ability to handle high-volume inbound operations.
- Proven track record of driving process improvements, cost reductions, and efficiency gains.
- Ability to manage and develop a diverse team; strong organizational and time management skills.
- Flexibility to work shifts as required and readiness to handle peak season workloads.
