Aurora Publishing Group is seeking an experienced Editorial Project Manager in New York City to oversee the end-to-end production of books and digital content. This pivotal role blends editorial excellence with project management, coordinating authors, editors, designers, and marketers to deliver high-quality titles on time and on brand.
In this role, you will manage production calendars, track milestones, and ensure consistency of voice, style, and metadata across formats. You’ll drive efficient workflows, optimize QA processes, and safeguard rights and permissions for print and digital distribution.
Responsibility
- Lead end-to-end production for manuscripts, including copyediting, proofreading, and quality control.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams to develop production schedules and meet publication deadlines.
- Manage metadata, rights, permissions, and cataloging for print and digital channels.
- Oversee digital publishing workflows in CMS, ensuring accessibility and brand consistency.
- Maintain editorial standards and voice across all titles and platforms.
- Serve as primary liaison for authors and external partners, providing status updates and issue resolution.
- Monitor budgets and resources, driving process improvements to increase throughput and profitability.
- Implement data-driven improvements and report on production KPIs.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Publishing, or related field.
- 3-5 years of editorial or publishing production experience.
- Strong editing, proofreading, and copyediting skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Proficiency with CMS (WordPress, Drupal) and digital publishing workflows.
- Familiarity with AP or Chicago Manual of Style guidelines.
- Proven project management capabilities with the ability to manage multiple titles and deadlines.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with rights management and metadata optimization is a plus.
