Join our premier sustainability team as an Environmental Management Specialist. This pivotal role drives the design, implementation, and governance of environmental programs to minimize risk, reduce waste, and ensure regulatory compliance across our operations.
Based in Portland, OR, you will collaborate with cross functional teams, external partners, and regulatory agencies to advance our commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable business practices.
As a key driver of continuous improvement, you will shape data driven decisions, lead audits, and mentor colleagues to embed environmentally responsible methods throughout our processes.
Responsibility
- Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of the company's Environmental Management System (EMS) in line with ISO 14001 and local regulations.
- Identify environmental risks, conduct audits, and drive corrective actions to minimize impact across facilities and supply chains.
- Monitor, analyze, and report environmental performance metrics and prepare regulatory submissions as required.
- Coordinate waste management, emissions reductions, water stewardship, and hazardous materials handling programs.
- Collaborate with operations, EH&S, and engineering teams to embed sustainability into processes and capital projects.
- Engage with regulators, customers, and stakeholders to communicate performance and secure approvals.
- Lead training programs and coach staff on environmental policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field (Master's preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in environmental management, compliance, or sustainability roles.
- Strong knowledge of ISO 14001, regulatory frameworks, and risk assessment methodologies.
- Proven track record in audits, incident investigations, and corrective actions.
- Data analysis proficiency with environmental performance metrics; experience with environmental software and reporting tools.
- Excellent project management, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Relevant certifications such as CEM or EHS-related credentials are a plus.
