Responsibility

  • Plan and conduct field sampling and data collection for stock assessments across coastal and offshore fisheries.
  • Lead data processing, QA/QC, and statistical analyses using R and Python to support population models.
  • Collaborate with government agencies, industry partners, and researchers to prepare stock assessment reports and management advice.
  • Coordinate acoustic surveys, age-length analyses, and catch-per-unit-effort datasets.
  • Ensure compliance with permits, ethical standards, and data sharing protocols.
  • Prepare technical reports, briefings, and stakeholder presentations to inform policy decisions.
  • Supervise field crews and mentor junior technicians and analysts.

Qualification

  • Master’s degree in Fisheries Science, Marine Biology, Ecology, or a related field; PhD preferred for senior roles.
  • 3+ years of experience in fisheries biology, stock assessment, or related research.
  • Strong proficiency in R and Python for statistical analysis and modeling.
  • Experience with acoustic surveys, aging structures, and catch-at-length data.
  • Knowledge of GIS, data management, and database systems; strong attention to data quality.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; demonstrated ability to engage with stakeholders and policymakers.
  • Ability to work in field conditions, travel as required, and hold a valid driver’s license.
