Job description

Scanmar Maritime Services is seeking a skilled Fitter to join our marine maintenance team for container vessels. This ASAP, 7-month contract opportunity is based in the Philippines with deployments to global cargo ships. As a Fitter on container and mixed-ship fleets, you will contribute to the reliability and safety of critical systems across bulk, container, general cargo, reefer, ro-ro, and tanker vessels.

In this hands-on role, you will diagnose faults, perform repairs, and conduct preventive maintenance on mechanical systems, including propulsion auxiliary equipment, hydraulic circuits, piping, and deck machinery. You will fabricate and fit parts, weld as required, and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints to ensure precise workmanship. The position demands a proactive, safety-focused mindset and strong teamwork with shipboard crews and shore-based supervisors.

Key responsibilities include following rigorous maintenance schedules, documenting work completed, ordering parts, and coordinating with vessels and land-based teams to minimize downtime. You will ensure compliance with international standards and company safety procedures, participate in onboard safety drills, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. This contract offers competitive USD compensation, exposure to a global maritime network, and an opportunity to advance within a reputable provider of manning and vessel services.

Join Scanmar and bring your expertise to a company committed to safety, quality, and efficiency at sea. Applicants should be prepared for the challenges and rewards of contract seafaring with flexibility and a strong commitment to professional growth.

We support ongoing technical training, modern equipment, and compliance with STCW and other international standards. Successful candidates will have opportunities for additional assignments across our diversified fleet and a clear path toward enhancing their marine maintenance career.
