We are seeking a proactive Food Safety & Quality Assurance Manager to lead our quality systems across our San Francisco production footprint and partner facilities. As the Food Safety & Quality Assurance Manager, you will own the integrity of our products from ingredient to plate, ensuring compliance with HACCP, GMP, ISO 22000, FSMA, and local regulations, while driving continuous improvement across quality metrics and supplier performance. This is a leadership role with a hands on approach to audits, incident investigation, and risk management.

Responsibility

  • Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of HACCP, GMP, and ISO 22000 food safety programs across all production sites.
  • Oversee QA activities including in-plant testing, product release, and disposition decisions to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Manage internal audits, supplier qualification, and CAPA processes; drive continuous improvement and root cause analysis.
  • Collaborate with R&D and Supply Chain to scale new products while maintaining safety, legality, and quality standards.
  • Monitor and report on key quality metrics, trending, and risk assessment; prepare management reviews and corrective action plans.
  • Lead recall readiness, traceability programs, and regulatory filings; coordinate with external auditors and authorities as needed.
  • Mentor and train staff on quality systems, food safety culture, and standard operating procedures.

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 5+ years in QA/QC within food manufacturing; leadership experience a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of HACCP, GMP, ISO 22000, FSMA or local equivalents, and risk assessment methodologies.
  • Experience with supplier quality management, audits, and corrective actions.
  • Proven track record in data-driven decision making, root cause analysis, and CAPA execution.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management skills across multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced production environment and travel as needed.
