Job description
We are seeking a visionary Branding Lead to shape the narrative and visual identity of premium brands across sectors. Based in New York City (remote options available for US-based candidates), you will craft brand strategy, lead creative direction, and collaborate with product, marketing, and sales teams to drive growth.
At Lumen & Co., you will own end-to-end brand programs, develop market-ready identity systems, messaging frameworks, and storytelling that resonates with global audiences. You will mentor a growing team of designers and researchers, partner with clients, and deliver measurable brand outcomes.
Responsibility
- Develop and own brand strategy, positioning, and messaging for multiple clients and internal brands.
- Lead the creative direction for visual identity systems, typography, color, and iconography.
- Translate brand strategy into compelling campaigns, product storytelling, and activation programs.
- Collaborate with product, marketing, and sales teams to ensure brand consistency across channels.
- Establish brand governance, write credible tone of voice, and maintain comprehensive style guides.
- Manage projects, budgets, and client relationships; ensure on-time, on-brand delivery.
- Mentor junior designers, researchers, and brand strategists; foster a culture of learning.
- Lead competitive analysis and market research to inform positioning and differentiation.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Branding, Marketing, Design, or a related field; MBA a plus.
- 7+ years of branding experience, preferably with both agency and in-house roles.
- Proven portfolio of brand identities, campaigns, and systems for diverse industries.
- Strong expertise in brand strategy, messaging, voice, and visual identity development.
- Proficiency with design and collaboration tools (Figma, Illustrator, Photoshop).
- Outstanding communication, leadership, and client-facing skills; able to influence at all levels.
- Experience with brand governance, style guides, and scalable identity frameworks.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, timelines, and stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
