Job description
NovaForge Manufacturing is seeking a proactive Industrial Engineer to optimize production processes and drive operational excellence in our Detroit facility. You will partner with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and maintenance teams to improve throughput, reduce waste, and deliver best-in-class manufacturing performance.
As a key member of the operations team, you will lead process studies, evaluate equipment layouts, and design efficient workstations. You will apply lean principles, collect and analyze data, and translate findings into actionable improvements that elevate safety, quality, and productivity.
Responsibility
- Lead time and takt time analysis to optimize line performance and reduce bottlenecks
- Design and optimize workstation layouts, material flow, and cellular manufacturing
- Lead kaizen events and cross-functional improvement projects
- Analyze production data to identify waste, variation, and opportunities for cost reduction
- Collaborate with maintenance and supply chain to implement durable, sustainable process changes
- Support shop floor training on standard work, 5S, and visual controls
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field
- 3+ years of industrial engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies (DMAIC)
- Proficiency with process modeling and data analysis tools (Excel, Minitab, or similar) and CAD software (AutoCAD or SolidWorks)
- Experience with line balancing, time studies, and value stream mapping
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and project management skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
