Job description

IronPeak Manufacturing, a premier industrial producer of precision components for automotive and consumer goods, is seeking an experienced Industrial Production Engineer to optimize line performance, lead continuous improvement initiatives, and drive operational excellence in our Detroit area plant.

In this role you will:

  • Lead line balancing, takt time calculations, and proper line-side Kanban to maximize throughput while minimizing waste and variability.
  • Plan, execute and coach Kaizen events and Kaizen-based improvements using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Maintenance, Quality, and Supply Chain to ensure on-time delivery and component availability.
  • Develop and monitor production metrics such as OEE, scrap rate, downtime, and yield; implement corrective actions and trials.
  • Perform root cause analysis for quality or process issues and implement sustainable countermeasures.
  • Support New Product Introductions by validating processes, creating standard work, and leading process FMEA.
  • Mentor operators and technicians on best practices, standard work, and safety-compliant procedures.
  • Identify and pilot process automation opportunities to reduce cycle times and variability.

Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a closely related field.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in an industrial production or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma (Green Belt or higher), and data-driven problem solving.
  • Proficiency with data analysis tools (Excel, Minitab, Python/R) and production systems (ERP/MES).
  • Experience with process automation elements, PLCs, robotics, or other automation is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across functions in a fast-paced plant.
  • Safety-conscious mindset with attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Experience with ISO/TS quality systems or similar is a plus.
