Job description

Mercury Precision Manufacturing is seeking a results-driven Industrial Production Supervisor to lead daily operations in our Detroit facility. This role champions safety, quality, and productivity while mentoring a diverse production team to exceed performance targets.

In this position you will be responsible for coordinating production schedules, optimizing line efficiency, and driving continuous improvement initiatives across the plant. You will collaborate across maintenance, quality, and supply chain to ensure reliable, high-quality output.

Responsibility

  • Oversee and optimize daily production scheduling to meet delivery commitments while balancing capacity and labor resources.
  • Lead shift-based production teams, ensuring high engagement, accountability, and adherence to safety standards.
  • Monitor KPIs including OEE, scrap rate, yield, downtime, and on-time delivery; implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Collaborate with maintenance to minimize equipment downtime and sustain preventive maintenance programs.
  • Champion Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives (5S, Kaizen, SMED) to reduce waste and cycle times.
  • Ensure quality control processes are followed; identify, document, and resolve non-conforming products promptly.
  • Coordinate with procurement and materials planning to ensure uninterrupted material flow and minimal stockouts.
  • Provide coaching and development plans for team members; recruit, onboard, and evaluate performance.

Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of production leadership in a manufacturing environment; automotive or metal fabrication experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma methodologies and problem-solving tools (DMAIC, 5 Whys, 8D).
  • Proven track record of improving OEE, reducing scrap, and meeting delivery targets.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems and shop-floor data analytics; proficiency in Excel and data visualization.
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Commitment to safety and the ability to enforce a positive safety culture; willingness to lead risk assessments.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts and across multiple lines as required.
