Job description

NovaLex IP Group is seeking a highly skilled Intellectual Property Counsel to join our Singapore regional team. This role focuses on patent strategy, trademark management, licensing, and IP portfolio development for a fast-growing tech client base. You will collaborate with R&D, marketing, and product teams to safeguard innovations and drive value.

As a key member of our IP practice, you will advise on contentious and non-contentious IP matters, lead patent prosecutions, oversee freedom-to-operate assessments, and negotiate complex licensing deals with multinational corporations.

Responsibility

  • Develop and manage IP portfolio strategy for patents, trademarks, and copyrights across APAC.
  • Draft, file, and prosecute patent applications; manage trademark filings and renewals.
  • Conduct freedom-to-operate and clearance searches; assess IP risk in new products and features.
  • Draft and negotiate IP licenses, technology transfer agreements, and collaboration agreements.
  • Provide IP litigation support, coordinate with outside counsel, and monitor disputes.
  • Advise on IP due diligence for M&A and partnerships; perform patent landscape analysis.
  • Deliver IP training and guidance to product, engineering, and business teams on best practices.

Qualification

  • Admitted to the Singapore Bar with a law degree and an IP-focused practice.
  • 5+ years of experience in intellectual property law, preferably in tech or life sciences sectors.
  • Strong patent prosecution experience, including drafting and filing in major jurisdictions and familiarity with PCT processes.
  • Solid trademark clearance, registration, maintenance, and opposition experience.
  • Proven ability to negotiate licenses, technology transfer, and collaboration agreements with cross-border counterparts.
  • Knowledge of international IP law, IP due diligence, and portfolio management across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Excellent drafting, communication, and stakeholder-management skills; ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
