NovaForge IP Solutions is seeking a Senior Intellectual Property Counsel to lead patent and trademark strategy for a fast-growing tech portfolio. This is a hands-on role for a seasoned attorney with a proven track record in patent prosecution, licensing, and IP risk management.
In this role, you will collaborate with product, engineering, and business teams to safeguard innovative technologies while enabling strategic partnerships and growth. You will own the development and execution of global IP strategies, manage external counsel, and advise on open-source compliance and IP risk across products.

Responsibility
- Manage end-to-end patent prosecution for software, hardware, AI, and related innovations worldwide, coordinating with inventors and external counsel.
- Lead trademark clearance, filing, portfolio management, and enforcement strategies across multiple jurisdictions.
- Advise product and engineering teams on IP risk, freedom-to-operate assessments, licensing, and open-source compliance.
- Negotiate and draft licensing, collaboration, and research agreements; support strategic partnerships and M&A activity.
- Oversee IP due diligence for partnerships, fundraising, licensing opportunities, and potential acquisitions.
- Manage budgets and relationships with external law firms; ensure timely delivery and high-quality work product.
- Develop and communicate IP strategy to senior leadership; mentor junior team members and foster cross-functional collaboration.
Qualification
- Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school; active California bar admission; USPTO registration.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in intellectual property, including patent prosecution and trademark matters; in-house or law firm acceptable.
- Strong technical background in computer science, electrical engineering, or related fields; experience with AI/ML technologies highly preferred.
- Proven track record drafting and prosecuting patents across jurisdictions; excellent patent landscape analysis and claim drafting skills.
- Experience with trademark clearance, filing, enforcement, and portfolio management; ability to develop comprehensive IP strategies.
- Experience with open-source licenses, IP due diligence, licensing negotiations, and strategic counseling.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, collaboration across cross-functional teams, and effective project management.
