Responsibility
- Deliver high-quality undergraduate and graduate courses in data science, statistics, machine learning, and related topics.
- Develop, update, and assess curricula, syllabi, and learning outcomes to align with program goals and accreditation standards.
- Lead and supervise student projects, capstones, theses, and research experiences in data-intensive disciplines.
- Design and implement authentic assessments, rubrics, and feedback mechanisms that promote student growth and rigor.
- Engage with industry partners to create experiential learning opportunities, internships, and sponsored research.
- Contribute to program development, accreditation processes, and department service through collaboration with colleagues.
- Mentor students from diverse backgrounds, fostering inclusive teaching practices and equitable outcomes.
- Participate in outreach, recruitment, and faculty development initiatives to advance the university's mission.
Qualification
- Terminal degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a closely related field; PhD preferred or equivalent professional experience.
- Proven teaching experience at the university level, with a track record of effective student engagement and learning outcomes.
- Strong expertise in Python and data science tooling (e.g., Jupyter, SQL, R) and modern ML techniques.
- Experience in curriculum development, assessment design, and program-level accreditation processes.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively across disciplines.
- Commitment to inclusive pedagogy and mentoring students from diverse backgrounds.
- Evidence of scholarly activity or industry partnerships; ability to secure external funding is a plus.
- Ability to teach with flexibility, including in-person and remote/hybrid modalities and accessible course design.
