Northstar Legal Advisory is seeking a seasoned Legal Consultant to advise corporate clients on regulatory compliance, contract risk management, and strategic support. You will interpret laws, draft policy documents, and deliver practical legal solutions that protect business interests across industries.
In this role, you will collaborate with product, sales, finance, and HR teams to implement compliant processes, assess risk, and provide actionable guidance that aligns with business objectives. A strong client-facing stance and ability to communicate complex legal concepts in clear business terms are essential.
Responsibility
- Conduct legal risk assessments and provide actionable recommendations.
- Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial contracts and internal policies.
- Advise on regulatory compliance across multiple jurisdictions, including data privacy, employment, and anti-corruption statutes.
- Collaborate with product, sales, finance, and operations to implement compliant processes.
- Manage due diligence and support for partnerships, mergers, or acquisitions as needed.
- Develop training materials and deliver sessions to educate teams on legal topics.
- Monitor legislative changes and provide timely updates to stakeholders.
Qualification
- Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent; bar admission in New York or ability to practice in NY.
- 5+ years of experience in corporate law, compliance, or consulting, preferably in a law firm or corporate environment.
- Strong knowledge of contract law, data privacy, antitrust, and regulatory frameworks.
- Excellent drafting and negotiation skills; ability to translate legal concepts into actionable business guidance.
- Experience with risk assessment, policy development, and training delivery.
- Outstanding communication and client-management skills; ability to manage multiple engagements.
- Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams; strong project management and time management.
