InnovaTech IP is seeking a Senior Intellectual Property Counsel to lead our global IP strategy. This in-house role focuses on patent and trademark protection, portfolio management, licensing negotiations, and IP risk assessment for a fast-growing tech company.
On the Legal & IP team, you will collaborate with R&D, product, and business development to protect, enforce, and monetize our innovations while supporting strategic partnerships and product roadmaps.
Responsibility
- Develop and execute a global IP strategy aligned with business goals and product roadmaps.
- Oversee patent portfolio management across the US and international jurisdictions; supervise filings, office actions, appeals, and pendency tracking.
- Manage trademark clearance, filing, maintenance, and enforcement activities to protect brand assets.
- Draft, negotiate, and close IP licensing, technology transfer, collaboration, and R&D agreements.
- Perform IP risk assessment for new products, partnerships, and go-to-market strategies; advise on freedom-to-operate and infringement risks.
- Lead IP due diligence in M&A, investment, and partnership transactions; coordinate with external counsel.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams; mentor and develop junior IP staff and paralegals; establish scalable IP processes.
Qualification
- Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school; bar admission in good standing in the US.
- Minimum 7 years of intellectual property experience, preferably within the technology sector, including at least 4 years in patent prosecution and counseling.
- Strong patent prosecution expertise, including US and international filings, with familiarity of PCT/EP routes.
- Proven trademark experience including clearance, filing, enforcement, and portfolio management.
- Experience drafting and negotiating IP licenses, technology agreements, and collaboration arrangements.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and written and verbal communication skills; proven leadership and cross-functional collaboration.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities while delivering high-quality work.
