Digital Financing Indonesia is seeking a proactive and experienced Legal Counsel to join our legal team in Jakarta. This in-house role provides the opportunity to shape legal strategy in a dynamic fintech environment and support scalable growth while ensuring compliance with Indonesian law. You will work closely with product, compliance, finance, and senior leadership to manage legal risk, draft and negotiate contracts, and protect the company's interests.
Key responsibilities include drafting and negotiating commercial agreements (financing agreements, service agreements, vendor contracts, and license arrangements), advising on regulatory and corporate governance matters, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and data privacy requirements, and supporting corporate secretarial tasks. You will monitor regulatory developments, prepare legal opinions, and provide practical, business-friendly guidance to enable timely decision-making.
Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, business-minded, and able to translate complex legal concepts into actionable advice. A strong background in fintech or financial services, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with product, risk, and operations are essential. Fluency in English and Bahasa Indonesia is preferred to support our diverse stakeholder base.

Responsibility
- Draft and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including borrower agreements, vendor contracts, partnerships, licensing, and service level agreements.
- Provide proactive legal advice on regulatory, licensing, and compliance requirements relevant to fintech and digital lending in Indonesia.
- Monitor and interpret Indonesian laws and regulations; communicate impact to product, risk, and management; prepare concise legal opinions and regulatory impact assessments.
- Support corporate governance, board materials, and secretarial tasks; manage statutory filings and corporate records.
- Manage intellectual property, data privacy, and cybersecurity considerations in product development and operations.
- Lead due diligence and provide guidance on risk management for partnerships, acquisitions, or investments as needed.
- Provide training and practical legal guidance to internal teams to reduce legal risk and improve contract quality.
Qualification
- Law degree from an accredited university; admission to the Indonesian bar is a plus.
- Minimum 3-5 years of in-house or private practice experience in Indonesian corporate law, contracts, and regulatory compliance, preferably in fintech or financial services.
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills with a pragmatic, business-oriented approach.
- Solid knowledge of Indonesian Company Law, Contract Law, data privacy, consumer protection, and financial services regulations; ability to interpret complex regulations and translate into practical guidance.
- Excellent communication in English and Bahasa Indonesia; ability to explain legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
