Metropolis Public Library is seeking a dynamic and service-oriented Librarian to join our professional team in the heart of New York City. This role combines traditional reference services with modern information literacy initiatives, digital resource management, and community programs.

Responsibility
- Provide reference and research services to patrons, both in-person and virtually.
- Develop and maintain accurate catalog records using MARC, RDA, and Dewey Decimal Classification.
- Assist with acquisitions, cataloging, weeding, and collection development aligned with community needs.
- Manage digital resources, e-books, databases, and institutional repositories.
- Plan and deliver information literacy instruction and user education programs.
- Collaborate with departments on exhibits, events, and community outreach initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with library policies, privacy, and safety standards; contribute to data-driven service improvements.
Qualification
- Master’s Degree in Library Science (MLS/MLIS) from an ALA-accredited program or equivalent.
- 2+ years of professional librarianship experience; strong candidates with accredited internships or student internships considered.
- Proficient with library management systems (e.g., Koha, Alma, or Sierra) and MARC metadata standards.
- Strong reference and research skills, with ability to assist diverse patron populations.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to manage multiple projects.
- Commitment to information literacy, inclusive service, and community engagement.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to work evenings or weekends as needed.
