Join the Emerald City Library Consortium, a forward-thinking public library system serving Seattle and surrounding communities. We are seeking a skilled Librarian with expertise in cataloging, metadata, and digital resources to curate collections, improve discovery, and support community programs. You will collaborate with librarians, archivists, and IT staff to ensure accurate metadata, robust access, and engaging services for patrons.
In this role, you will contribute to the library's mission of open access to information, innovate with digital collections, and support lifelong learning for diverse communities.
Responsibility
- Lead cataloging and metadata efforts for print and digital formats using MARC, RDA, and Library of Congress Authority data.
- Manage inclusion of materials in the library catalog and discovery layer, ensuring accurate subject headings and accessible records.
- Oversee digital resources, e-resources, and remote access services for patrons and staff.
- Collaborate with librarians, IT, and collection development to plan acquisitions and weeding strategies.
- Provide reference services, information literacy instruction, and outreach to diverse user groups.
- Develop and maintain collection policies, metadata quality standards, and data quality dashboards.
- Participate in grant projects and special programs to promote literacy and community engagement.
Qualification
- Master's degree in Library Science (MLS/MLIS) from an ALA-accredited program.
- 2+ years of professional cataloging, metadata, or digital collections experience.
- Strong working knowledge of MARC21, RDA, LC subject headings, and Dewey Decimal Classification.
- Experience with ILS/Discovery systems (e.g., Sierra, Alma, WorldShare, or similar).
- Excellent attention to detail, data integrity, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication, collaboration, and public service orientation; commitment to DEI principles.
