Join Emerald City Public Library as a Librarian with a focus on cataloging, reference, and digital collections. You will implement metadata standards, steward the library's catalog, and empower patrons with information literacy. This is a customer-centric role requiring collaboration with staff, faculty, and community partners.
We seek an accomplished MLS/MLIS graduate with hands-on experience in cataloging, metadata, and/or digital repositories. You will work with our Integrated Library System (ILS), manage acquisitions workflows, and help design literacy programs that reach diverse audiences.

Responsibility
- Lead cataloging and metadata practices in accordance with current standards (RDA, MARC, Dublin Core) and maintain authority control for all library materials.
- Oversee cataloging workflows within our ILS (e.g., Koha, Alma, or Sierra) and coordinate with acquisitions and digital services teams.
- Manage collections acquisitions, budget planning, and weeding to optimize space and relevance across physical and digital formats.
- Provide proactive reference services at the reference desk and virtually, including research consultations and instruction sessions.
- Curate and steward digital collections, institutional repositories, and open access materials; collaborate on digital scholarship initiatives.
- Supervise and mentor librarians, paraprofessionals, and volunteers; coordinate training and performance feedback.
- Design and deliver information literacy programs, classes, and community outreach to promote lifelong learning.
Qualification
- Master of Library Science (MLS/MLIS) from an ALA-accredited program or equivalent.
- 2+ years of cataloging, metadata, or reference experience in a public, academic, or special library.
- Strong knowledge of metadata standards (RDA, MARC, Dublin Core) and authority control.
- Hands-on experience with an Integrated Library System (Koha, Alma, Sierra, etc.) and digital asset management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; strong customer service and information literacy instruction skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, user-centered environment; project management skills.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusive library services; experience serving diverse communities.
- Familiarity with e-resources, licensing, and digital preservation best practices.
