Harborview Public Library seeks a proactive Librarian specializing in cataloging and reference services to join our dynamic team in Cambridge, MA.
In this role, you will ensure high-quality metadata, support circulation and reference desk operations, and collaborate with departments to enhance the library's collections and user experience.

Responsibility
- Manage cataloging workflows, including MARC records, authority control, and metadata standards.
- Create and maintain accurate metadata for new and existing library materials across formats.
- Collaborate with librarians and staff to support reference inquiries and information literacy sessions.
- Maintain and improve the library management system (ILS) workflows, holdings, and discovery layers.
- Provide frontline reference services at the information desk and via virtual channels.
- Support collection development through analysis of usage data and patron feedback.
- Ensure conformance with library policies, privacy, and accessibility standards.
Qualification
- MLIS or equivalent from an ALA-accredited program.
- 2+ years of cataloging and metadata experience in a library setting.
- Strong knowledge of MARC 21, RDA, Dewey Decimal Classification, and authority control.
- Experience with modern ILS platforms (e.g., Ex Libris Alma/Primo, SirsiDynix, or Symphony) and discovery tools.
- Excellent reference and information literacy instruction skills.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
