Emerald City Public Library invites you to join our Information & Research Services team as a Librarian focused on digital resources, access, and user-focused service excellence. In this full-time role, you will empower patrons with timely research support, innovative learning experiences, and seamless discovery across our physical and digital collections.
You will collaborate with a dynamic team of librarians, technologists, and educators to expand digital collections, curate resources, and implement modern cataloging and metadata practices that improve access for our diverse community in Seattle.
Responsibility
- Provide reference, research, and information literacy services to patrons in person, by phone, chat, and email.
- Curate and manage digital resources, including e-books, databases, and institutional repositories.
- Conduct cataloging and metadata tasks to ensure accurate discovery across discovery systems.
- Plan and deliver information literacy instruction sessions and library orientation for diverse user groups.
- Assist with collection development, interlibrary loan, and support for special collections as needed.
- Collaborate on user experience improvements, discovery tool optimization, and library website content.
- Analyze usage data, contribute to collection assessment, and prepare reports for stakeholders.
Qualification
- Masterβs degree in Library Science (MLIS) from an ALA-accredited program.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional librarianship experience in a public or academic library.
- Strong cataloging and metadata skills (MARC, RDA, Dublin Core) and experience with ILS.
- Experience with digital resources, repositories, and discovery tools (e.g., Primo, WorldCat Discovery, OverDrive).
- Proven ability to plan and deliver information literacy instruction and outreach.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, collaboration, and project management abilities.
