We are seeking a knowledgeable Librarian to lead Digital Services and Research support. The ideal candidate will blend traditional librarianship with modern information delivery, guiding patrons, curating collections, and expanding our digital presence. As a Librarian, you will support reference services, develop digital collections, enable research practices, and deliver information literacy programs for patrons of all ages. You will partner with colleagues to create welcoming, accessible services that empower our community to explore, learn, and innovate.
Responsibility
- Provide exceptional reference and research assistance in person, by phone, chat, and email, helping patrons locate credible sources and answer complex questions.
- Develop and maintain digital collections and online resources, coordinating with cataloging and metadata teams to ensure discoverability.
- Plan, promote, and deliver information literacy workshops and classroom-style sessions for diverse user groups.
- Collaborate with departments to design programs, outreach activities, and community partnerships that promote lifelong learning.
- Manage the selection, acquisition, weeding, and evaluation of both physical and digital collections to meet community needs.
- Support discovery tools by applying cataloging standards (MARC, RDA) and maintaining metadata quality across platforms.
- Monitor service analytics and patron feedback to continuously improve access, usability, and user experience.
- Advocate for inclusive, accessible services and contribute to a welcoming library environment for all patrons.
Qualification
- MLIS or equivalent accredited Master of Library Science degree; eligible for professional librarianship in Washington State.
- Minimum of 2–4 years of library experience, with emphasis on reference, digital services, or information literacy.
- Strong knowledge of cataloging standards (MARC 21, RDA) and experience with library discovery systems.
- Proven ability to design and deliver engaging information literacy instruction and programs.
- Proficiency with library technologies, digital repositories, data privacy practices, and analytics tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
