We are seeking a Librarian II to oversee digital collections, metadata, and discovery services. Responsibility
- Lead metadata creation and quality control for digital collections using MARC, Dublin Core, and local schemas
- Catalog and ingest digital assets in the library system and repository platforms
- Develop and maintain the discovery layer to improve user search and discovery experience
- Provide reference and research assistance to diverse patrons in person and remotely
- Collaborate on digitization projects and digital preservation strategies
- Develop and deliver information literacy and instruction sessions for students and community members
- Mentor staff and student workers in cataloging and metadata best practices
- Evaluate vendors, licenses, and metadata standards to ensure compliance and accessibility
Qualification
- Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) or an equivalent ALA-accredited degree
- Minimum 2-4 years of professional library experience, preferably in digital libraries or special collections
- Strong proficiency with metadata standards (MARC 21, Dublin Core, MODS) and authority control
- Experience with digital asset management systems and repository platforms (DSpace, Islandora, CONTENTdm, or similar)
- Knowledge of cataloging rules (RDA, AACR2) and integrated library systems
- Excellent customer service, communication, and collaboration skills
- Ability to analyze data, create reports, and assess user needs for service improvements
