Job description
TerraNova Geospatial is seeking a Licensed Surveyor to lead field surveys and project execution in the Denver, Colorado area. This role combines fieldwork with office analysis, delivering precise boundary, topographic, and ALTA/ACSM surveys for public and private sector clients.
The ideal candidate will supervise field crews, manage client expectations, and ensure compliance with local regulations and safety standards. You will work with state of the art GNSS, RTK, and robotic total stations, supported by AutoCAD Civil 3D and related geospatial tools.
Responsibility
- Lead and perform boundary, ALTA/ACSM, topographic, and construction stakeout surveys; produce accurate plats and drawings.
- Manage field crews, assign tasks, review field notes, and ensure data QA/QC before office processing.
- Operate GNSS/GPS receivers, robotic total stations, and data collectors; ensure instrument calibration and maintenance.
- Collect, analyze, and integrate field data into office workflows using AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, or equivalent GIS software.
- Prepare survey reports, maps, and legal descriptions; coordinate with clients, attorneys, and project managers.
- Maintain and adjust control networks, coordinate with project teams, and ensure compliance with Colorado surveying standards and safety policies.
- Provide mentorship and training to junior staff; promote a safe, efficient field schedule and timely deliverables.
Qualification
- Licensed Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) in Colorado or eligible to obtain licensure within 6 months.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in boundary, topographic, and ALTA/ACSM surveys; familiarity with Colorado regulations.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, and GIS concepts; experience with field to finish workflows.
- Strong knowledge of GNSS/RTK, robotic total stations, field data collection, and QA/QC procedures.
- Excellent mathematical, analytical, and drafting skills; ability to read plans, legal descriptions, and record drawings.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; proven ability to manage client relationships and supervise field crews.
- Valid driver's license; willingness to occasional travel to project sites.
