TerraNova Surveying & Geomatics is seeking a Senior Surveyor to lead field data collection, ensure precise measurements, and deliver exceptional boundary and topographic surveys for public and private sector clients. Based in Denver, CO, this role blends traditional surveying techniques with modern GIS and CAD workflows.
As a key member of our team, you will oversee field crews, review data, coordinate with engineers and planners, and mentor junior survey staff. Our ideal candidate combines strong technical skills with excellent communication and project management capabilities.
Responsibility
- Lead and supervise field surveys including boundary, topographic, ALTA/ACSM, and as-built data collection with a focus on safety and quality control.
- Manage field crews, allocate tasks, monitor progress, and ensure timely data capture and documentation.
- Plan, execute, and manage survey projects from scope through final deliverables, coordinating with clients and design teams.
- Prepare survey plats, maps, and CAD/GIS deliverables; review data for QA/QC and compliance with standards.
- Operate GNSS/GPS equipment, robotic total stations, and data collectors; perform data processing and adjustment as required.
- Maintain survey equipment, calibration, inventory, and backup procedures; troubleshoot field issues promptly.
- Collaborate with the GIS team to integrate survey data into enterprise systems and BIM workflows.
- Maintain safe work practices and ensure compliance with local codes, regulations, and company safety policies.
Qualification
- Bachelor degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or related field; relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of education.
- Professional Land Surveyor license in Colorado or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe.
- Minimum 5 years of field surveying experience, with strong knowledge of boundary and topographic surveys.
- Proficiency with GNSS/GPS, robotic total stations, field data collection software, and survey CAD programs (AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center).
- Experience with GIS platforms (ArcGIS) and data integration into BIM/CAD workflows.
- Strong communication, client management, and leadership skills; demonstrated project management capability.
- Valid driving license and ability to travel to field sites; willingness to work in varying weather conditions.
- Safety training and certifications (OSHA 10/30) preferred; knowledge of Colorado surveying standards accepted.
