Job description

Join FedEx as a Manager of Process Engineering for Pick-up and Delivery Operations. In this leadership role, you will design, optimize, and govern the end-to-end processes that move packages from pickup through final delivery, while aligning with ground movement and airport gate planning requirements. You will lead a multidisciplinary team to deliver reliable, cost-efficient operations that meet customer expectations and safety standards.

You will partner with Operations, Network Planning, IT, and Facilities to transform processes, reduce cycle times, and improve asset utilization across hubs and stations in Malaysia and neighboring regions. This role emphasizes data-driven decision making, performance measurement, and continuous improvement using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies. You will own the deployment of SOPs, process maps, capacity plans, and change management practices to scale growth and support peak seasons.

Key focus areas include gate sequencing, dock scheduling, ground movement optimization, safety and security compliance, and optimizing handoffs between pickup, sort, and delivery operations. You will drive project management for process improvement initiatives and capital projects, manage risk, and cultivate a culture of accountability and excellence.

Ideal candidates demonstrate strategic thinking, a customer-centric mindset, and strong leadership capabilities. You should thrive in a global, fast-paced logistics environment with stringent regulatory requirements, and be adept at mentoring teams, building scalable processes, and delivering measurable performance improvements. This role offers the opportunity to influence FedEx operations on a regional scale and contribute to industry-leading on-time performance.

Responsibility

  • Lead the process engineering function for pickup and delivery operations, driving end-to-end process design and optimization across hubs, gateways, and field stations.
  • Develop and implement SOPs, standard work, capacity planning, and workflow diagrams to ensure consistent service levels and on-time performance.
  • Identify and execute Lean, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement initiatives to reduce cycle times, waste, and total cost per shipment.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Network Planning, IT, and Facilities to optimize routing, gate sequencing, dock scheduling, and ground movement.
  • Lead and manage capital projects, vendor engagements, and risk assessments to support process enhancements and scalability.
  • Define, monitor, and report key performance indicators (OTD, dwell time, safety incidents, utilization) and drive data-driven decision making.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, security, and regulatory requirements across all process improvements and operational changes.
  • Coach and develop team members, foster cross-functional collaboration, and build capabilities to sustain performance gains.

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical) or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of process engineering, operations, or logistics experience, with leadership responsibility in transportation or parcel delivery.
  • Proven expertise in Lean, Six Sigma (green/black belt) and data-driven process improvement; strong analytical skills.
  • Project management experience with a track record of delivering capital projects and change initiatives on time and within budget.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management; ability to influence cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with data analytics tools (Excel, Power BI/Tableau) and process modeling software; ability to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Knowledge of safety, security, and regulatory requirements in logistics and airport/ground operations.
  • Willingness to travel to facilities as needed within the region.
