Job description

NovaLine Manufacturing Solutions is seeking a results-driven Manufacturing Engineer to optimize production lines and drive continuous improvement across a fast-paced operation in Chicago. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to reduce waste, improve quality, and increase overall equipment effectiveness. This is an opportunity to apply Lean principles, data-driven problem solving, and automation technologies in a modern manufacturing environment.

As part of our operations team, you will partner with Process Engineering, Quality, Production and Maintenance to scale best practices, support New Product Introductions, and ensure robust process validation and documentation.

Responsibility

  • Design, develop, and implement manufacturing process improvements to reduce cycle times and scrap.
  • Analyze production data to identify bottlenecks and establish KPIs such as OEE, yield, and downtime reduction.
  • Lead root-cause analysis using 5 Whys and Fishbone diagrams and implement effective corrective actions (CAPA).
  • Collaborate with Process Engineering, Quality, Production, and Maintenance to support new product introductions and product transfers.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, standard work, PFMEA, and control plans to ensure consistent output.
  • Support equipment selection, validation, installation, and commissioning for line upgrades and automation projects.
  • Mentor manufacturing technicians, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and foster a culture of quality and safety.
  • Use data visualization and MES/ERP tools to monitor performance and communicate insights to leadership.

Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering or a related field; Master's degree is a plus.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment; experience in automotive or consumer electronics is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma methodologies and data-driven problem solving.
  • Proficiency with data analysis tools (Excel, Minitab, Power BI) and familiarity with MES/ERP systems.
  • Experience with PFMEA, control plans, process mapping, and validation activities.
  • Familiarity with automation, PLCs, robotics, or CAM/CAD software; CAD experience is a plus.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management skills; ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Self-motivated, hands-on, and committed to safety and quality in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
