Job description

Bruker Corporation invites you to join our BPEN Manufacturing Engineering team in Penang, Malaysia. As a Manufacturing Engineer, BNSM, you will ensure that manufactured components and assembled products meet Bruker's exacting standards for high‑precision subsystems. This role blends hands on process development with strategic optimization to enhance quality, throughput, and reliability on the factory floor. You will apply rigorous problem solving, data analysis, and collaborative leadership to deliver robust manufacturing solutions that support Bruker’s global customers. You will also mentor junior engineers, contribute to safety programs, and participate in internal and external audits to uphold compliance with industry standards.

You will partner with Design, Quality, and Operations to drive NPIs, process capability, and process documentation. Your responsibilities include defining standard work, control plans, and inspection criteria; conducting DFMEA/PFMEA and risk assessments; establishing measurement systems analysis; and implementing design for manufacturability feedback to product teams. You will lead root cause investigations for nonconformances, implement corrective actions, and monitor KPIs such as yield, scrap rate, cycle time, and equipment downtime to sustain continuous improvement across high‑mix, moderate‑volume production lines.

Bruker offers a collaborative, globally oriented environment with access to advanced instrumentation, state of the art manufacturing tools, and a clear path for career growth in precision manufacturing. If you thrive on turning complex engineering challenges into reliable, scalable processes and enjoy cross functional teamwork, you will fit well in this role and help advance the company’s mission to enable scientific discovery and industrial innovation for researchers, clinicians, and industry partners.

Responsibility

  • Lead process optimization for the production of subsystems and components used in Bruker instrumentation, focusing on quality, yield, and on time delivery.
  • Develop and implement standard work, control plans, process flows, and work instructions to ensure repeatable, compliant manufacturing.
  • Support early product stages through NPI activities including DFx feedback, process capability studies, PFMEA/DFMEA, and pilot runs.
  • Lead root cause analysis for nonconformances using structured problem-solving methods (8D, 5 Whys, fishbone) and drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Collaborate with Mechanical, Electrical, Quality, and Manufacturing Engineering teams to validate new processes and ensure design-for-manufacturability.
  • Monitor and analyze KPIs (yield, scrap, cycle time, uptime) and lead continuous improvement projects using Lean Six Sigma tools.
  • Manage tooling, equipment maintenance plans, and process equipment validation ensuring safety, cleanliness, and regulatory compliance.
  • Support internal and external audits and maintain documentation in accordance with ISO quality standards and Bruker procedures.

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in high precision, electronics, optics, or subsystems environments; experience with high‑mix, moderate‑volume production is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of DFMEA/PFMEA, PPAP, SPC, MSA, CAPA, QA methodologies, and statistical analysis tools (Minitab, JMP, or equivalent).
  • Proficiency in DFM/DFX, process validation, and project management; ability to translate design intent into robust manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with automation, equipment validation, and preventive maintenance planning; strong safety awareness and compliance with ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 where applicable.
  • Excellent communication and cross functional collaboration skills; fluent in English; Malay language skills advantageous.
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem solving, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Willingness to travel to suppliers or customer sites as needed.
