Job description
We are seeking a results-driven Manufacturing Engineer to join our Detroit-based facility. This role focuses on optimizing production processes, reducing waste, and enhancing product quality through data-driven decisions.
As a key member of the Operations team, you will collaborate with Process Engineers, Maintenance, and Quality to drive continuous improvement across lines. You will leverage Lean and Six Sigma methods to improve efficiency, reliability, and profitability.
Responsibility
- Lead process optimization projects using Lean and Six Sigma to reduce cycle times and waste.
- Develop and implement standardized work, SOPs, and line layouts for new or existing products.
- Analyze production data and KPIs to identify performance gaps and create data-driven action plans.
- Collaborate with Maintenance and Reliability teams to improve equipment uptime and OEE.
- Drive continuous improvement through small-scale experiments, DOE studies, and automation opportunities.
- Facilitate root cause investigations and implement corrective actions with sustainment metrics.
- Support new product ramps and line automation projects, validating processes and capacity requirements.
Qualification
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical Engineering or related field
- 3+ years of manufacturing engineering or operations experience in metal, plastics, or assembled goods
- Strong knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma DMAIC, and data-driven problem solving
- Experience with process mapping, line balancing, SOP development, and capacity planning
- Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Excel, Minitab, or JMP and familiarity with ERP systems
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management skills
- Knowledge of automation and robotics is a plus
