Responsibility
- Lead voyage planning and route optimization for a global fleet using ECDIS, ARPA, and AIS systems.
- Monitor weather, sea-state, currents, and port constraints to ensure safe and efficient navigation.
- Execute safe navigation plans, perform risk assessments, and calculate fuel and time estimates.
- Maintain navigational charts and data, ensuring compliance with COLREGs, SOLAS, and STCW.
- Collaborate with masters, operations, and shore teams to manage contingencies and incidents.
- Provide training and mentorship on navigational procedures to junior crew and shore staff.
- Prepare voyage reports, incident logs, and regulatory documentation for audits and port state control reviews.
Qualification
- Bachelor degree in Maritime Studies, Nautical Science, or related field; or equivalent sea-time and shore-side experience.
- Minimum 5 years of navigational experience on ships or shore-based navigation teams.
- Proficient with ECDIS, ARPA radar, AIS, and modern voyage planning tools.
- Solid knowledge of COLREGs, SOLAS, ISM and STCW requirements; valid certifications.
- Strong analytical skills, situational awareness, and decision-making under pressure.
- Excellent communication in English; ability to coordinate with multi-national crews and port authorities.
- Leadership experience, mentoring crew members and coordinating training sessions.
- Proactive, safety-first mindset and willingness to travel for port rotations and trainings.
